Pre-Song ceramics

Most ceramics produced before the Song dynasty (960-1279) were made of earthenware, either glazed or painted with cold pigments, though some high-fired stoneware vessels were also produced. The Tang dynasty (618-907) is especially celebrated for its three-colour (sancai) glazes which were applied to figures and vessels.
