Archaic Bronze Wine Vessel (hu)
Middle Western Zhou dynasty, late 10th - early 9th century BC
This archaic bronze vessel was originally intended to hold wine used for ritual purposes. The simplicity of the elongated form is enhanced by the narrow band of stylized crested birds, characteristic of the Middle Western Zhou period, between the loop handles.
