Blue and white porcelain from the Yuan and early Ming dynasties
This exhibition is the second at Eskenazi Limited to focus only on blue and white porcelain, the previous one being held in 1994. Seven outstanding examples have been selected. Two are very rare objects from the Yuan dynasty, which saw the invention of porcelain, and the five others date to the early Ming Yongle and Xuande reign periods. Many have illustrious provenances and all are notable for their outstanding painterly designs in cobalt blue, featuring classic motifs such as the lotus pond, floral sprays and the ‘Three Friends of Winter’.
